Heritage Church

Rev. David J Brogren

Hello! Welcome to the Heritage Church website. We’re honored to have you visit us on our site, and would also love to have you join us for worship on Sundays at 10 am for our Church Service. You’ll find a warm, friendly community of people that feels like a family. That’s why we always say, “Come home to Heritage.”

We have lots of stuff going on for you and your family, from times of fellowship to Youth Group to Bible studies, to our weekly worship gatherings (link to “Worship Service Brochure”). Our youth group (grades 7-12 is called H.Y.P.E.), and meets every Thursday evening at 6:30. There are great activities and fun games, a compelling interactive discussion, music, and, of course – FOOD! Brian and Michelle love these students and are diligent to help them to grow in their faith in Christ. (H.Y.P.E. is currently on summer hiatus)

There are monthly meetings for the women of the church each second Thursday of the month at noon for a potluck lunch and Bible study. Women in Ministry also spearheads several projects in Santa Maria such as snacks for the coffee cart at the V.A. Clinic, clothing drives for the Good Samaritan Shelter and the Central Coast Rescue Mission, as well as ministering to several of the missionaries and ministries both at home and overseas.

These are just some of the things that are happening on a regular basis here at Heritage. Our hope is that if you’re looking for a church home or just have questions about what it means to be a Christian – a follower of Jesus Christ – that you’ll come home to Heritage. We’d love to get to know you and welcome you into our family. Heritage Church has been a congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (www.epc.org) since 1983 and has been in Santa Maria since its founding in 1982.

Our Youth Group is known as H.Y.P.E. (Heritage Youth Prayerfully Empowered). We call ourselves this because this is what we strive to be. But we do far more than just pray. We get together every Thursday night at the church at 6:30. We have food, games, activities, (did we mention food), and a time of learning how our faith affects our lives as teenagers in today’s world, and we always try to pray for each other’s needs as well as make some music together.

Our leaders (Brian T. and Michelle V.) love young people and really want to show them how they can find true happiness in having a relationship with Jesus. They know that Jesus brings us happiness, fulfillment, and helps us to be who we truly are. He is anything but a killjoy – He loves a great party and getting together with friends – those who know Him already and those who haven’t met Him yet. So come on out on Thursday evenings and meet some new friends and maybe even get to know Jesus!

(H.Y.P.E. is currently on summer hiatus)

Wednesday mornings at 10 there is a bible study at the church called AMC (morning connections) for those who are interested in a study that meets during the day. Sometimes we work all the way through a book of the Bible. At other times we do a topical study based on the Scriptures. Either way, the Bible is the basis for the study so we can become familiar with what the Word of God teaches about everyday life.
